LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Mar, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has decided to increase the existing levy on high octane

fuel used in luxury vehicles by the wealthiest class by an additional Rs 200 per liter, raising it from Rs 100 per

liter to Rs 300 per liter.

This important decision regarding high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles of the wealthiest class, was taken in a

video-link meeting presided over by the prime minister on Sunday.

The prime minister noted that the levy on high-octane fuel used in the most expensive vehicles should be increased.

The levy on high-octane fuel used in expensive vehicles will now be

Rs 300 per liter.

This decision will help the government to save Rs 9 billion per month, and as directed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif this saving will be passed on to the public as relief.

This decision aimed to reduce the burden on the economy and the wealthiest segment of the country will bear the cost.

Fuel prices for ordinary vehicles used by lower and middle classes have not been increased, only the price of high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles has been increased.

This decision will not lead to any increase in public transport fares or

air travel costs.

The prime minister had taken notice of high-octane fuel pricing and directed the relevant ministry to formulate a plan in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ali Pervaiz Malik and other senior government officers.
