GUJRAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Police have arrested a two-member women pickpocket gang involved in stealing valuables from shoppers in crowded markets ahead of Ramazan and recovered gold ornaments, cash and a mobile phone from their possession.
According to a police spokesperson, the crackdown against thieves, robbers and other criminal elements is continuing across the district on the directions of District Police Officer (DPO) Rana Umar Farooq.
In this connection, DSP City Circle Zafar Iqbal, along with SHO B-Division Inspector Furqan Shahzad and Incharge Shah Daula Post ASI Rashida, conducted a special operation using modern investigative techniques and arrested two women suspects.
The accused were identified as Saima, wife of Tasaduq, and Kiran, wife of Irfan.
Police recovered two and a half tolas of gold ornaments, a valuable mobile phone and Rs 40,000 in cash from their possession and registered a case against them.
During initial interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing valuables from women’s purses by taking advantage of the rush in markets ahead of Ramazan.
