Physical assault case registered against cop

DERA GHAZI KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) A case of physical assault has been registered against the inspector here at Gadai Police Station.

Police said on Monday that complainant Tabassum Abbas, appeared before the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Azhar Ikraam during an open public hearing, alleged that Inspector Abrar Ahmad of Gadai Police station, under the pretext of a long-standing family acquaintance, subjected her to repeated physical assault over an extended period, threatening her and her family into silence. The alleged incidents of assault span from March 7, 2026, with the last reported incident occurring on April 3, 2026.

The complainant further alleged that the accused used mobile phone recordings and photographs as tools of blackmail, coercing her into compliance and threatening to circulate the material if she reported the matter.

The RPO took immediate cognizance of the matter and directed that a case be registered in the complainant's name under Section 376 PPC.

RPO Muhammad Azhar Ikraam has ordered that the investigation be conducted strictly on merit, with full transparency and impartiality. He directed that the inspector was suspended from field duties for the duration of the investigation to ensure a fair process.

The investigation has been assigned to a designated officer, with strict instructions that all requirements of justice be fulfilled without prejudice to any party.
