ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb-20, 2026) Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination and Ad-hoc President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Mohyuddin Wani, has reaffirmed his commitment to reviving and strengthening national hockey, announcing the immediate lifting of the ban imposed on national team captain Imad Shakeel Butt.
In an official statement, Wani said the decision was taken to ensure that players remain fully focused on training and matches, while administrative matters would be handled by the federation.
He added that all relevant institutions are united in their efforts to restore the national sport to its former glory. Transparent and democratic elections for new leadership within the federation will be held soon.
Wani stated that his top priorities as ad-hoc president include stabilizing the institution, restoring trust, and reorganizing the team management system.
He emphasized that immediate and pressing issues will be addressed in the short term, while a comprehensive vision will be developed as part of a medium-term strategy. Improvements in coaching and training systems, along with stronger institutional coordination, are also part of the plan.
He further pledged to enhance governance within the federation, ensure transparent and efficient use of resources, and build partnerships with the private sector to provide better facilities for players.
Wani thanked the Prime Minister for his trust, assuring that transparency and fairness will guide every decision as efforts continue to restore Pakistan hockey to its lost stature.
