PHF appoints Dutch coach Herman Kruis as coaching advisor

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) In a bid to revive the national sport and raise its standard, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Thursday appointed renowned Dutch coach and high-performance expert Herman Kruis as the national hockey team's coaching adviser for an initial two-year term.

Herman Kruis is a highly respected and experienced figure in international hockey. With decades of experience, he has coached and advised national teams and elite hockey programs across Europe, Asia, and other regions. He specializes in developing modern coaching systems, nurturing young talent, and preparing teams for major international championships.

As National Hockey Coaching Advisor, the PHF stated in a statement, Herman Kruis will guide the PHF in strengthening Pakistan's entire hockey ecosystem. He will work closely with both the senior and junior national teams.

He will also develop a modern and sustainable high-performance framework for coaching and player development in Pakistan.

Working alongside specialist coaches in various fields, he will provide technical support and enhance talent identification programs.

Herman Kruis will join the Pakistan team at the start of the upcoming World Cup, where he will work with the coaching staff during the transition period. Immediately after the World Cup, he will formally lead the planning and preparation of both the senior and junior national teams for the Asian Games and other major international competitions.

The PHF maintains that the appointment of Herman Kruis is the first phase of a comprehensive strategy to revive Pakistan hockey. The PHF has expressed its commitment to bringing in more world-class experts and coaches in the coming months.
