PHC jails lawyer for using abusive language against female judge

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) The Peshawar High Court on Tuesday sentenced a lawyer from Swat to six months’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 for using abusive and inappropriate language against a female judge inside a courtroom.

According to a brief verdict issued by the court, complaints against Swat-based lawyer Asadullah were received by the Registrar of the Peshawar High Court.

The complaint was filed by female Civil Judge Fauzia Naseem.

The High Court converted the complaint into a contempt of court petition and initiated contempt proceedings.

A show-cause notice was issued to the lawyer, and during the course of the proceedings, the allegations against him were proven.

The court awarded the sentence under the Contempt of Court Ordinance 2004, sentencing the lawyer to six months in prison along with a fine of Rs100,000.
