PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the holy month of Ramazan, particularly at Sehri and Iftar times.
In its written verdict, the court instructed PESCO and all relevant stakeholders to make special arrangements for electricity provision throughout Ramazan.
The court emphasized that concrete measures must be taken to eliminate unannounced load-shedding. If power outages are unavoidable, PESCO must issue a clear and transparent load-shedding schedule in advance.
The court also recalled the Supreme Court of Pakistan ruling of 2014, which mandates complete transparency in matters related to electricity generation and distribution.
During the hearing, PESCO’s counsel raised an objection regarding the maintainability of the petition. However, the court rejected the objection, stating that preventing load-shedding during Sehri and Iftar hours in Ramadan is essential under all circumstances.
The court further made it clear that electricity distribution companies must avoid unannounced load-shedding and provide maximum relief to consumers during Ramazan in order to minimize public hardship.
