Theaters named after iconic scientists Ibn-e-Sina, Al-Razi and Al-Zahrawi
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 14th, 2026) The Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) / Amir-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) have achieved a major milestone in aligning medical education with global standards by completing the renovation and up gradation of state-of-the-art lecture theaters at a cost of Rs. 40 million. These modern theaters, named after world-renowned Muslim scientists Ibn-e-Sina, Al-Razi, and Al-Zahrawi, were formally inaugurated by Principal Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, alongside Prof. Tasleem Raza and Prof. Muneeza Saeed. The ceremony was attended by MS LGH Dr. Faryad Hussain and other faculty members.
During the inauguration, Prof. Farooq Afzal stated that naming these theaters after legendary Muslim scientists aims to inspire young doctors to seek guidance from their ancestors’ glorious achievements and reach new milestones in medical research and service. He highlighted that graduates of PGMI and AMC are not only exceptional clinicians but also serve as “Medical Ambassadors” of Pakistan, earning prestige for the country worldwide.
The Principal added that these upgraded facilities will provide teachers with advanced pedagogical tools, fostering a robust research culture and ensuring that trainee doctors serve humanity based on modern scientific and investigative foundations.
Earlier, Additional Dean PGMI Dr. Shaista Mubeen briefed the attendees on the institute’s academic and research activities, while Prof. Tasleem Raza, Prof. Muneeza Saeed and Prof. Nudrat Sohail also shared their views on the institute’s performance. The participants inspected the upgraded theaters and lauded the administration’s initiative, calling it a revolutionary step for improving teaching standards. Prof. Farooq Afzal reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical education and research, ensuring that no effort is spared in enhancing institutional facilities. The event concluded with the Principal presenting honorary shields to Prof. Tasleem Raza, Prof. Muneeza Saeed, and Superintendent Engineer Building Department Esa Janjua.
