PFA seizes 12.5 maunds of dead poultry in Matital raid,case registered

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday intensified its crackdown on unsafe food practices,recovering 12.5 maunds of dead chickens during a surprise raid in the Matital area.

According to official sources,a food safety team conducted an inspection at a poultry shop located at Adda Matital, where a large quantity of rotten and dead poultry meat was found stored for alleged distribution to local food outlets.

The seized meat was immediately destroyed on the spot in accordance with safety protocols.

Director General(DG) PFA,Syed Musa Raza confirmed that a case has been registered against the shop owner, identified as Ajmal, at Alpa Police Station.

He alleged that the accused was supplying dead chickens to various fast food outlets in the area.

“Providing unsafe and prohibited meat under the guise of fresh poultry is unacceptable,”the DG said, adding that strict action would continue against elements involved in the illegal food trade.

He further reiterated that the authority would ensure the protection of public health “at every cost” through continued enforcement operations.
