LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) The enforcement teams of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA), under the directions of Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid sealed three samosa and roll sheet (roll patti) production units during a crackdown carried out in different areas of the provincial capital in Ramazan.
According to the PFA spokesperson, the units were sealed and heavy fines were imposed over serious violations of food safety laws. The food safety teams observed extremely poor hygienic conditions at the production sites. Pakoras and roll sheets were found placed uncovered on broken and dirty floors after preparation. Roll sheets were being prepared on filthy tables in open courtyards, while heaps of garbage were present in the production area. The use of rusted machinery was also detected during inspection.
The inspections further revealed that mandatory records, including employees’ medical and training certificates, were not available. Required pest control measures had also not been adopted in accordance with food safety regulations.
Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid said that no compromise would be made on public health and the sealed units would remain closed until full compliance with food safety laws is ensured. He added that during the holy month of Ramazan, PFA teams are conducting day and night operations in three shifts across the province.
He said that the food fraud mafia would not be allowed to endanger public health, reiterating that the authority maintains zero tolerance against those playing with the health of citizens.
