LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) An enforcement team of the Punjab Food Authority, on the directions of Director General PFA Syed Musa Raza, carried out operations in Raiwind against the adulteration mafia.

During the crackdown, 15 food points, restaurants and kulfa shops were inspected, resulting in the closure of a renowned fast food restaurant. Two food points were heavily fined, while 13 were issued improvement notices over violations of food safety laws.

PFA’s food safety teams discarded over 40 kilograms of expired vinegar, sauces, prohibited ingredients and spoiled meat. The DG PFA said that action was taken due to failure to comply with previously issued instructions.

Syed Musa Raza said that poor hygiene conditions were observed in kitchens, including heavy insect infestation and foul-smelling environments.

He said that dairy and meat were being stored together in dirty, foul-smelling and fungus-infected freezers.

He said that oil change records, as well as medical and training certificates of food handlers, were not available. He said that expiry and production dates were also missing on raw and prepared food items.

The DG PFA said that strict action is being taken to ensure provision of quality food and eliminate the adulteration mafia. He emphasized that compliance with food safety laws is mandatory for all food business operators in Punjab. He further stated that those endangering public health will not be given any leniency.
