PFA seals outlets over poor hygiene

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a week-long crackdown against food adulteration in Sialkot and inspected 506 food outlets and production units across the district.

According to the food authority spokesperson, during the operation over two maunds of adulterated milk and other prohibited items were destroyed, while five food points were sealed due to poor hygiene conditions. Fines amounting to Rs508,000 were also imposed on 34 violators.

The spokesperson said the drive was carried out on the directions of DG PFA Syed Musa Raza, with teams conducting inspections in Daska, Pasrur, Sambrial and city areas.

More than 50,000 litres of milk were checked during the operation by inspecting 245 vehicles and 65 milk shops. Several food handlers were found without mandatory medical and training certificates.

The authority urged food business operators to strictly follow food safety regulations and advised citizens to report complaints on helpline 1223.
