LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) The enforcement teams of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA), on the directions of Director General PFA Syed Musa Raza, conducted a grand operation against food adulteration across Ravi Town, Chauburji, Temple Road, Malkhi Ram Street and Lakhodair.
During the crackdown, six well-known food points and units were inspected, resulting in the closure of five, registration of one FIR and imposition of fines worth Rs. 300,000 on three outlets.
Food safety teams discarded over 80 kilograms of substandard meat and prohibited items. The DG PFA said that a spices unit was sealed and an FIR lodged after a red chili sample failed laboratory tests.
Musa Raza said that a renowned fast food restaurant was closed and fined over poor hygiene conditions, while a well-known milk shop in inner Lahore was also sealed for violations.
He said that a “Chargha House” was shut down for failing to comply with previous instructions and fined accordingly.
The DG PFA said that poor sanitation conditions were observed, including heavy insect infestation, dirty freezers and foul-smelling environments. Non-food grade wooden boards were being used for cutting vegetables, posing serious health risks.
He said that mandatory oil change records, as well as medical and training certificates of employees, were not available, while stored food items lacked proper expiry dates.
He further stated that PFA is actively working to ensure provision of adulteration-free food, emphasizing that food adulteration is a serious crime and there is zero tolerance against the mafia involved.
