LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) An enforcement team of the Punjab Food Authority, on the directions of Director General PFA Syed Musa Raza, has uncovered a unit involved in the illegal production of oil from animal fat and offal near Sabzi Mandi Rohi Nullah.
Operation was led by Additional Director Lahore Khawaja Umair. During the raid, 33,030 kilograms of animal fat and offal along with 5,000 liters of oil prepared from fat were discarded. An FIR was lodged and two suspects were arrested over food forgery and serious violations of food safety laws.
PFA’s food safety teams found that the accused were secretly extracting oil from animal fat and offal in highly unhygienic conditions.
DG PFA sais that strict action was taken due to absence of mandatory oil records and a valid food license.
Syed Musa Raza said that offal and animal fat were stored in dirty blue drums, while contaminated oil was being extracted in an open processing area. He said that the legally required methanyl dye had not been added to the extracted oil.
He said that oil produced from animal waste can only be used for biodiesel production and is not fit for human consumption. He said that businesses endangering public health will be uprooted completely.
He further stated that food adulteration will not be tolerated under any circumstances and those involved in forgery mafia will not escape the law in Punjab.
