MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) launched inspections of various pizza and burger outlets in Khanewal and Vehari under the directions of Director General Syed Musa Raza.
According to official sources, food safety teams carried out inspections at a renowned food point located at Rana Ikram-ul-Haq Chowk in Khanewal, where serious breaches of hygiene standards were detected. Inspectors found rats and insects infesting the storage area, while rancid oil and expired bread were allegedly being used in food preparation.
Authorities also observed poor sanitation arrangements, including the presence of insects near freezers and raw food items.
During the operation, the team discarded 30 litres of rancid oil and 10 kilograms of unhealthy meat on the spot. The outlet was subsequently fined Rs50,000 for violating food safety regulations.
In a separate action, food safety officials inspected a well-known food outlet on Luddan road in Vehari following a public complaint.

Despite this, the outlet owner was issued a warning notice to ensure strict compliance with food safety measures.
The management was directed to improve precautionary arrangements and fully implement all prescribed SOPs to avoid any negligence.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Musa Raza said the protection of public health remained the foremost responsibility of the Punjab Food Authority. He stated that the use of substandard ingredients, rancid oil, and unhygienic conditions in food preparation would not be tolerated at any cost.
He further said that strict legal action under the authority’s zero-tolerance policy would continue against those playing with public health, adding that the food inspection system was being strengthened to ensure the availability of safe and quality food for citizens.
