PFA destroys 5 tonnes of hazardous frozen chicken

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday seized and destroyed five tonnes of hazardous frozen chicken meat during an operation in Kotli Pir Abdul Rehman,Lahore.

The illegal unit was sealed, and a case was registered against the owners.

According to PFA,safety teams,acting on the directions of PFA Director General(DG) Muhammad Asim Javaid,discovered that the business was being operated under the cover of an ice cream and kulfa storage facility,with a signboard outside to disguise the storage of substandard frozen chicken.

During inspection,the meat was found diseased with its colour turning blue and black and was declared extremely dangerous for human consumption.

It was immediately confiscated and disposed of on the spot.

The DG PFA said the operation was part of a continuous crackdown against food fraud, following the directives of the Chief Secretary Punjab.

He warned that strict legal action would be taken against those endangering public health and emphasized that laws against food adulteration were being further strengthened.

He urged all food business operators to comply with PFA regulations,particularly during Ramadan, and said the authority would continue round-the-clock inspections to achieve the Chief Minister Punjab’s vision of a “pure and healthy Punjab.”
