PFA Chiniot intensifies Eid-ul-Azha crackdown in Chiniot, destroys substandard food items

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Chiniot has intensified inspections of food items across Chiniot district ahead of Eid-ul-Azha to ensure the supply of quality and safe food to the public.

According to a spokesperson, operations this month led to the destruction of 240 liters of substandard juices and cold drinks, 205 liters of milk, and over 3 maunds of various unsafe food items.

A total of 2,050 food points, units, and suppliers were checked during the campaign.The authority registered 2 cases for food adulteration and the sale of substandard items, and closed 8 food units.

Fines amounting to Rs 1.462 million were imposed on 132 food business operators found violating regulations.

A special crackdown is underway on the instructions of DG Punjab Food Authority Syed Musa Raza.

The spokesperson said indiscriminate action was being taken against those involved in food adulteration, while heavy fines were imposed on operators who failed to comply with previous directives.

Checks covered small and large brands, markets, suppliers, and food processing units, alongside an ongoing awareness campaign on food safety.

DG Syed Musa Raza said a zero-tolerance policy was being enforced against adulteration, with vigorous steps underway to remove obstacles to the provision of quality food in pursuit of a healthier Punjab.
