ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan on Friday stated that there is no shortage of petroleum in the country; however, global crises could affect prices, adding that a committee constituted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif under the Petroleum Minister is closely monitoring and reviewing the situation on a daily basis and that any measures will be finalized after developing consensus.
While speaking to a local news channel, Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan said the government is keeping a close watch on the country’s petroleum supply situation to ensure stability in the market.
He said there is currently no shortage of petroleum products and authorities are continuously assessing developments that could affect supply or prices.
He added that the government was also in contact with Saudi Arabia and other friendly countries to ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products. According to him, relevant institutions were closely monitoring international developments and domestic supply levels on a daily basis.
Rana Ihsaan Afzal added that a committee constituted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was reviewing the overall situation and keeping the supply chain under close observation.
He noted that after examining the complete scenario, any necessary measures would be finalized through consensus among the committee members.
He said the committee has also been tasked with conducting a detailed analysis of the potential fiscal impact in case of a prolonged conflict, adding, this includes closely examining how extended geopolitical tensions could affect the country’s financial stability and resources.
Rana Ihsaan Afzal added that the committee was reviewing the broader effects of the situation on Pakistan’s economy, ensuring that any recommendations take into account both immediate and long-term economic implications.
Responding to a query regarding hoarding, he urged the public to remain calm, stating that any temporary increase in prices will stabilize once the supply situation is effectively managed.
