PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Peshawar Electric Supply Company has eliminated load-shedding on five more feeders following a large-scale operation against power theft and line losses, according to PESCO Chief Executive Akhtar Hameed Khan.
He said the initiative was being carried out on the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Federal Minister for Energy to gradually convert feeders into load-shedding free zones.
The latest operation has increased the total number of load-shedding free feeders to 18 across the PESCO region, the chief executive said.
According to PESCO, load-shedding has been completely eliminated from Mall Road and Dabgari feeders in the Peshawar circle, Town feeder in the Mardan circle, and Saidu Sharif and Express Chakdara City feeders in the Swat circle.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Akhtar Hameed Khan said PESCO carried out intensive operations on these feeders to reduce transmission losses and improve recovery rates.
He added that during the past three months, the company disconnected around 6,000 illegal electricity connections and imposed fines amounting to Rs160 million on power thieves.
The PESCO chief said anti-theft operations were continuing in other areas as well, expressing hope that more feeders would soon be declared load-shedding free.
