People of Abbottabad praise PM, Army Chief for preventing wider war through diplomacy

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Residents from different walks of life have expressed gratitude to the leadership of Pakistan for their role in helping avert a wider regional conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, terming it a significant diplomatic achievement.

Recent international reports indicate that Pakistan played a key role in mediating a fragile ceasefire between the warring sides, preventing further escalation and a possible large-scale war in the region.

Sajid Shah, a resident of Abbottabad, said that the timely intervention by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir helped defuse a highly volatile situation.

He remarked that Pakistan’s leadership demonstrated wisdom and responsibility by promoting peace at a critical moment.

Waqar Ali, a trader, also appreciated the efforts, stating that the entire nation feels proud of the leadership for prioritizing diplomacy over conflict.

He added that a prolonged war could have severely impacted global markets, including Pakistan’s economy.

Munawar Khan echoed similar sentiments, saying that Pakistan has once again proven its importance on the global stage. He thanked the Prime Minister and the Chief of Army Staff for their “undeniable role” in preventing further bloodshed and maintaining regional stability.

It is worth mentioning that tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States had escalated earlier this year, raising fears of a broader war, but diplomatic channels reportedly facilitated by Pakistan helped bring the situation under control, at least temporarily.
