Parliamentarians review Eid sanitation plan, stress zero-waste target

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Chairman Chief Minister’s Inspection Team Raja Muhammad Hanif and Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Services Ziaullah Shah reviewed Eid-ul-Azha sanitation arrangements during a visit to Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) headquarters.

CEO RWMC Rana Sajid Safdar briefed the delegation on the Eid cleanliness operation, monitoring system, deployment of field teams and complaint redressal mechanisms.

Officials said that the Eid sanitation operation would formally begin tonight, with offal collection starting immediately after Eid prayers and continuing till the third day.

A total of 6,340 workers and 1,066 vehicles and machinery will take part in the operation, while 33 transfer stations have been established across the city.

Four major dumping sites with 11 trenches have been prepared for safe disposal of waste.

Around 376,000 waste bags will be distributed among citizens, while model camps and union council-level camps have also been set up.

Monitoring will be carried out through drones and Safe City cameras, and a fine of up to Rs.50,000 will be imposed on violations.

Officials urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation staff and place waste at designated points.
