LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Pakistan Captain Fatima Sana has said that the team is ready for the Indian challenge in their first game of the ICC Women’s T20I World Cup.
Addressing the pre-match press conference at Brimingham, she said that the pressure match against India demanded of us to maintain calm and absorb the pressure. Pakistan Women are due to play their first game of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 against India in Brimingham. Pakistan are place in Group 1 along side Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, India, and Netherlands.
On the expection from the World Cup, she said that thet hoped to do well in this world cup as a unit, adding that execution of plans was very important and the team will try to execute better plans in this World Cup.
On the injury scare to captain Fatima Sana during the nets, the Pakistan Women’s captain said that a shot from the bat of Ayesha (Zafar) Baaji hit her in the knee but she was fine and will play the important fixture against India tomorrow.
To a query, Fatima Sana said that the team has been in England for the past two weeks and they have acclimatized well for the tournament, adding that they play a series in Ireland in similar conditions as well prior to arriving in England and Wales.
On the future of Women cricket in Pakistan, Fatima Sana hailed ICC for granting hosting rights to Pakistan for the ICC Women’s T0 World Cup 2028, adding that it will help in more popularity for cricket among girls.

On cricket’s popularity among grils, Fatima Sana’s answer was in the affirmative and she said that more and more girls were taking cricket as professional sport today. She said it had happened because the parents were supporting their daughters like never before.
Fatima Sana said that Pakistan cricket has a good fan base in Brimingham and she expected a good crown in tomorrow’s game against India. “We have played really good cricket in the recent past and I expect a lot of support in the ground tomorrow,” she responded.
On the morale in the Brimingham game, Fatima Sana said her own performance has been really good at the venue as played good cricket in the last Commonwealth Games here. “I think our whole team is used to these conditions because some of the girls are playing already here and we have good senior players who can execute their plans,” she said.
Fatima Sana said the cricket fans at Brimingham support good cricket and hopefully more and more people will turn up tomorrow.
