Pakistan whitewash South Korea 5-0 in APPC 2026 opener

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Pakistan launched their Asia Pacific Padel Cup (APPC) 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion, recording a comprehensive 5-0 victory over South Korea in their opening Group A tie at Play Padel McKinley, Manila, on Thursday.

The Pakistani contingent dominated all five matches across men's, women's and mixed doubles categories to secure maximum points and send a strong message to their rivals in the regional championship.

The opening men's doubles pair of Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Huzaima Abdul Rehman gave Pakistan the perfect start, defeating HongBeom Min and Sangho Park in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

Pakistan's women's doubles team of Sheeza Sajid and Asfa Shahbaz maintained the momentum with another commanding performance, overcoming Jieun Yang and Jeehee Park 6-1, 6-1 to double the lead.

Pakistan then sealed the tie through the mixed doubles matches. Aqsa and Muhammad Aamil Asif defeated Jiwon and Hakyung 6-0, 6-3, while Huzaima Abdul Rehman and Meheq completed the whitewash with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Junhyeok and Yerim.

Pakistan's flawless performance places it in a strong position in Group A, which also features India and Thailand, and is hosted by the Philippines. The victory provides Pakistan with maximum points and an early advantage in the race for a place in the knockout stage.
