ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) Prime Minister’s Coordinator and Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, on Monday hailed Pakistan’s role in facilitating the Iran-United States peace agreement, saying the development had enhanced Pakistan’s standing as a global advocate for peace and stability.
Addressing a statement, Ashrafi said the peace agreement between Iran and the United States, announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, had become possible through continuous diplomatic efforts by Pakistan’s leadership.
He said through the Grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistan had attained an international stature that it had not achieved during the past 78 years, adding that the country was now being recognized globally as a center of peace and security.
Ashrafi said the entire Pakistani nation was proud of its leadership, particularly Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for their efforts in advancing peace. He also acknowledged the role played by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in facilitating the diplomatic process.
The Pakistan Ulema Council chairman expressed hope that the path of peace would also contribute to a brighter future for the Palestinian and Kashmiri peoples and help advance their legitimate rights and aspirations.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He announced that the Pakistan Ulema Council had appealed for Friday, June 19, to be observed as a “Day of Thanksgiving and Prayer” across Pakistan and among Pakistani communities worldwide in recognition of the peace agreement and Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements.
Ashrafi prayed for Pakistan’s continued success and for lasting peace and stability around the world.
He also thanked Pakistan’s brotherly countries, particularly Saudi Arabia and its leadership Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohmmad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, as well as Qatar and Türkiye, for their support and contributions toward efforts for promoting peace.
He further expressed appreciation to the leaderships of Iran and the United States for placing confidence in Pakistan’s mediation efforts.
Ashrafi said Pakistan would continue moving forward toward a brighter future and expressed confidence that the pursuit of peace would contribute to stability, justice and the realization of the rights of oppressed peoples, including Palestinians and Kashmiris./APP-rzr-mkz
