Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria agree to enhance health cooperation

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Syed Mustafa Kamal held important meetings with the health ministers of Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Syria on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, where the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the health sector.

According to the Ministry of National Health Services on Sunday, detailed discussions were held on ongoing progress in the health sector and matters of mutual interest during the meetings.

The participating countries agreed to further strengthen public health systems, promote joint initiatives, and benefit from each other’s experiences in the health sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Kamal said comprehensive reforms were underway in Pakistan’s health sector aimed at providing better medical facilities to the public and modernising the healthcare system.

He said Pakistan was rapidly moving towards achieving self-sufficiency in the vaccine sector and all necessary steps were being taken for local vaccine production.

“Pakistan has also formulated its national vaccine policy,” the minister said.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to play its role in improving the health sector in collaboration with global partners.
