ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) The Chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council, and Prime Minister’s Coordinator Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, on Monday said Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remain steadfast in their principled and unwavering stance on the Palestine issue, reaffirming their support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Speaking on the issue, he said both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had maintained a clear and consistent position regarding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

He said all territories occupied by Israel should be returned and the Palestinian people must be granted their internationally recognized rights in accordance with the collective vision and policy framework presented by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the leadership of Saudi Arabia, particularly Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Ashrafi said Pakistan had never in the past, nor at present, and would never in the future step back even “one inch” from supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people for freedom, dignity and fundamental rights.

Commenting on recent remarks attributed to the US president, he said such statements might represent an individual viewpoint or political demand, but they did not alter the clear and categorical position of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Palestine.

He stressed that there could be no compromise whatsoever on the rights of the Palestinian people and no retreat from the longstanding demand for an independent Palestinian state.

Ashrafi also urged people to refrain from spreading baseless propaganda on sensitive diplomatic matters, saying Pakistan today enjoyed a respected position at the international and diplomatic levels which could not be undermined through misinformation campaigns.

“We stood with the people of Palestine in the past, we stand with them today, and we will continue to stand with them in the future,” he said, expressing confidence that the establishment of a free and sovereign Palestinian state would ultimately become the destiny of the Palestinian people.
