Pakistan, Russia reaffirm commitment to strategic stability dialogue

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Pakistan and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and coordination on issues of international security, strategic stability, arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation during the 16th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group on Strategic Stability held in Moscow.

The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russia Sergey Ryabkov and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tahir Hussain Andrabi on May 18 in Moscow, a joint news release issued here by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The two sides held a confident and detailed exchange of views on topical issues relating to international security and global stability, besides discussing matters concerning arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.

The joint statement said the meeting confirmed the convergence of approaches between Pakistan and Russia on most of the issues discussed during the consultations.

Both countries also expressed their intention to continue interaction and coordination at relevant international forums to strengthen strategic stability and global security mechanisms.

The two sides agreed to convene the 17th meeting of the Consultative Group next year in Islamabad.
