Pakistan Islamic Medical Association demands arrest of Dr. Mehwish killers

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Chairman Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), Dr. Zulfikar Durrani along with PIMA’s Central President, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tayyab and other officials have expressed deep concern and strong regret that even after passage of four days the perpetrators responsible for the martyrdom of Dr. Mehwish Hussain have not yet been apprehended.

Addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, the office bearers of PIMA alleged that due to negligence of police, lack of attention of government and non-provision of security, killing of doctors has become a routine in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A living example is martyrdom of Dr. Mehwish by family members of a patient in Kohat city in broad daylight due to which the sense of insecurity among doctors has increased, they added.

No one from the provincial government went to Dr. Mehwish's house and neither did Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the incident, they regretted.

Delay in arrest of killers prove that police and administration have completely failed, PIMA officials added.

They said four days have passed but no condolence has been given by the Chief Minister and no notice has been taken of the incident happened in the constituency of a top and active minister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Central president of PIMA, Professor Dr. Muhammad Tayyab said that doctors have become so insecure that people drag them to OPDs, but they are not being provided protection.

They also demanded to declare Dr. Mehwish as nation's martyred doctor and be given a martyr's package to her family.
