BEIJING, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing hosted the 3rd Pakistan Professionals & Students Forum (PSPF) 2026, under the theme “STEM Connect: Innovation, Mentorship, and Collaboration,” bringing together Pakistani students, researchers, academics, and professionals from across China for networking, mentorship, and collaboration in key scientific and technological fields.
The Forum featured seven STEM-focused mentorship clusters, including electrical & control systems, chemical & materials sciences, artificial intelligence & computer science, biological & agricultural sciences, civil, environmental & safety engineering, earth sciences, and mechanical, aerospace & energy disciplines. Participants engaged in interactive discussions on academic growth, research collaboration, career pathways, and emerging opportunities in Pakistan-China cooperation.
In his remarks, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi, highlighted the Embassy’s continued efforts to create meaningful platforms that connect Pakistani students and professionals across China and strengthen a sense of community, mentorship, and professional support. He noted that the Forum reflects the Embassy’s broader focus on human capital development, innovation, and skills partnerships between Pakistan and China.
The Ambassador underlined the importance of aligning academic and professional development with evolving industry needs and shared that the Embassy is actively promoting cooperation in Technical and Vocational education & Training (TVET) through sector-focused engagements in agriculture, electrical equipment, home appliances, battery and power storage systems, and ICT & telecommunications.
In this context, he informed participants that an ICT-focused symposium will be held on 16 May 2026, followed by a B2B Investment Conference on ICT in Hangzhou on 24 May 2026.
Highlighting practical outcomes of the Embassy’s initiatives, Ambassador Hashmi shared that a dedicated job fair organized earlier facilitated employment opportunities for Pakistani students with Chinese enterprises operating in Pakistan. He further informed participants that the Embassy is developing an AI-based matchmaking platform aimed at connecting Pakistani students with leading Chinese state-owned and private enterprises for internships, employment, and professional collaboration opportunities.
The Forum also marked the formal initiation of STEM mentorship clusters designed to promote sustained engagement between mentors and mentees through periodic follow-up sessions. Ambassador Hashmi appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and professionals and expressed gratitude to mentors for voluntarily contributing their expertise and guidance.
The Embassy extended special appreciation to Dr. Shamas Toor and Dr. Majid Khan for their valuable contributions to the mentorship initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting future engagement platforms for the Pakistani student and professional community in China.
