ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2026) Pakistan and China have reinforced their economic partnership with the signing of investment and business agreements worth approximately US$1.4 billion during the Pakistan-China Business Conference in Islamabad.

The commitments, spanning pharmaceuticals, healthcare, manufacturing, and industrial collaboration, underscore growing investor confidence and are expected to accelerate technology transfer, boost local production, and generate employment opportunities.

The conference concluded with the signing of 42 agreements valued at nearly US$850 million on its final day, covering sectors such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, vaccine manufacturing, healthcare technology, and industrial production.

Bringing together more than 250 Chinese companies alongside a large number of Pakistani enterprises, the event served as a platform for extensive business-to-business (B2B) engagement aimed at promoting trade, attracting investment, encouraging technology transfer, and strengthening industrial partnerships.

Among the key outcomes was the finalization of investment agreements for the local production of pharmaceutical products, medical equipment, and vaccines in Pakistan. These initiatives are expected to reduce reliance on imports, enhance domestic manufacturing capacity, and strengthen the country's healthcare sector while creating new employment opportunities.

Overall investment commitments reached US$1.4 billion, reflecting the increasing interest of Chinese investors in Pakistan's economic landscape and long-term growth prospects.

During the conference, Chinese and Pakistani companies held extensive B2B meetings to explore opportunities for joint ventures, industrial partnerships, and long-term investment projects across multiple sectors. Discussions focused on strengthening supply chains, expanding manufacturing capacity, and increasing value-added production.

Government officials and business leaders described the conference as a landmark event in Pakistan-China economic relations, saying the agreements would support industrial modernization, enhance export competitiveness, and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

The pharmaceutical and healthcare industries emerged as major beneficiaries of the investment commitments. The agreements are expected to facilitate the establishment of modern facilities for manufacturing medicines, vaccines, and medical equipment, enabling Pakistan to meet domestic demand while expanding exports to regional and international markets.

Industry representatives said collaboration with Chinese firms would introduce advanced manufacturing technologies, improve product quality, and strengthen research and development capabilities within Pakistan's healthcare sector.

The participation of more than 250 Chinese companies highlighted the growing interest of China's private sector in expanding its presence in Pakistan. Hundreds of B2B meetings held throughout the conference resulted in a series of commercial partnerships and investment understandings between businesses from both countries.

The event also underscored the increasing role of private-sector collaboration in complementing the broader strategic partnership between Pakistan and China. Business leaders expressed confidence that the agreements would soon translate into concrete investment projects.

Speaking to APP, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Atif Ikram Sheikh described the signing of US$1.4 billion worth of agreements as a major milestone in advancing bilateral economic cooperation. He said the deals, covering pharmaceuticals, vaccine manufacturing, industrial collaboration, and other priority sectors, would attract foreign investment, promote technology transfer, create employment, and strengthen Pakistan's export potential.

Similarly, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Usman Shaukat termed the conference a significant step toward expanding bilateral trade and investment. He said the agreements reflected growing confidence among Chinese investors in Pakistan's business environment and would support industrial development, technological advancement, job creation, and export growth.

Economic experts believe the investment commitments will enhance Pakistan's industrial output, attract greater foreign direct investment (FDI), create employment opportunities, and further deepen economic integration under the Pakistan-China strategic partnership.

The successful conclusion of the conference reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to expanding mutually beneficial economic cooperation while opening new avenues for investment, innovation, and industrial development.
