Pakistan-China diplomatic ties celebrated through culture, education in Lahore

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) A prestigious ceremony was held at a local educational institution in Lahore to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, here on Friday.

The event highlighted the enduring friendship, cultural harmony, and expanding educational cooperation between the two countries.

Chinese Consul General in Lahore, Sun Yan, attended the event as chief guest and visited the institution’s Chinese Language Center, where he interacted with students in the Chinese language. Senior academic officials warmly welcomed the consul general and underscored the importance of Pakistan-China relations and the growing academic links between educational institutions of the two countries.

The main ceremony, held at the institution’s central auditorium, was attended by a large number of teachers, students, and members of civil society. Participants watched a documentary highlighting the history of Pakistan-China relations, while selected moments from last year’s celebrations of China’s National Day were also showcased.

Students presented cultural performances, including songs reflecting Chinese and Punjabi traditions, drawing appreciation from the audience. Addressing the gathering, Sun Yan lauded the cordial relationship between the institution and the Chinese Consulate and praised the students for their talent and vibrant performances.

The consul general announced that scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students would continue and reaffirmed efforts to further strengthen educational, research, and cultural cooperation with Chinese universities. He said the younger generation could play a pivotal role in deepening the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, a commemorative shield was presented to the chief guest. A special cake adorned with the national flags of Pakistan and China was cut to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The event concluded with a high-tea reception, providing participants an opportunity to discuss future cooperation and further strengthen mutual connections.
