ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Director General of PAFDA, Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha revealed on Sunday that under the Chief Minister's leadership, the department is forging ahead with the creation of cutting-edge laboratories to test cosmetics, food, agriculture and drug products, aiming to eradicate food adulteration, misleading labels and health risks while ensuring top-tier product quality that meets the highest international standards.
In an exclusive conversation with ptv news on Sunday, Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha explained that the agency is mandated to ensure quality standards for food, agricultural, and pharmaceutical products.
He highlighted that PAFDA’ testing capabilities encompass nutrient profiling, microbiological safety assessments, and ingredient verification, ensuring that all products meet the highest quality benchmarks.
Dr. Pasha also emphasized the role of PAFDA’ state-of-the-art laboratories and modern technologies in analyzing food, agricultural products, medicines and medical materials.
He stressed the importance of scientific collaboration and knowledge sharing to uphold quality standards and protect public health, ensuring that the results align with international safety measures.
For the first time, PAFDA is also cracking down on cosmetics that have been linked to skin diseases, subjecting them to rigorous testing.
Additionally, there is significant progress in testing animal feed and agricultural products, with the Chief Minister working tirelessly to advance these initiatives to safeguard both public health and the agricultural sector.
Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha also noted the increasing number of dialysis and cancer patients linked to the adulteration of milk products.
He emphasized that PAFDA is now closely inspecting labels on children' s products, summer drinks and buffalo milk to ensure safety. New laboratories are being set up in the agriculture department to enhance testing and research, further ensuring the quality of food and agricultural products.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha emphasized the need for increased public awareness regarding product safety.
He also pointed out that countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, and others are recognizing the value of PAFDA’ s testing facilities and are considering adopting similar systems for ensuring the quality of their own products.
