MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Overnight rains lashed occupied Srinagar and several other parts of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on Tuesday, bringing a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures across the Valley. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department predicted further precipitation over the coming days, according to a report received here from across the Line of Control (LoC).

Furthermore, the weather department forecast generally cloudy conditions with light rain in the plains and snowfall over the higher reaches of Kashmir during the next 72 hours. In addition, independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif told Kashmir news Service (KNS) that the region is likely to witness cloudy weather accompanied by intermittent rain and snowfall during the next three days.

Moreover, heavy rain is expected over the plains of north Kashmir, particularly in Kupwara, Baramulla and Bandipora districts, while moderate to heavy spells may occur in central and south Kashmir.

Subsequently, moderate to heavy snowfall is anticipated in the higher reaches, including the sensitive Sonamarg–Zojila axis, Sinthan Top, Sadhna Top, Razdan Top and Peer Ki Gali.

Meteorological Centre in Srinagar also stated that weather conditions are expected to gradually improve between March 12 and 15 with mostly dry weather and occasional cloudiness. However, brief spells of light rain or snow may occur at isolated places. Therefore, authorities have issued an advisory warning of possible temporary traffic disruptions in mountainous areas and key passes of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Kishtwar due to snowfall.
