MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) The district administration intensified its price control operations in Multan during the holy month of Ramazan to ensure the availability of essential commodities at officially notified rates and to curb artificial inflation.

According to official sources, a crackdown against profiteers and hoarders is underway across the district. During recent inspections, five shops were sealed for violations, while several traders were fined for overcharging consumers.

Price Control Magistrates conducted surprise visits to various markets and issued a strict ultimatum to shopkeepers to strictly follow government-notified price lists. Authorities warned that no leniency would be shown to those involved in overpricing or hoarding.

Cases have been registered against three profiteers on charges of overcharging and stockpiling essential items.

The administration reiterated that strict legal action would continue against violators without discrimination.

Deputy Commissioner Nauman Sadiq emphasized that providing relief to citizens remains the top priority of the district administration during Ramazan. He stated that artificial price hikes would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He further warned that strict action would be taken against shopkeepers who fail to display official price lists or charge above the prescribed rates. “Profiteers do not deserve any concession. Operations will continue indiscriminately to protect consumers’ rights,” he added.

The deputy commissioner also observed that special monitoring mechanisms had been put in place to ensure steady supply and price stability of essential commodities throughout the holy month.
