Over 83,000 police personnel deployed at 32,500 mosques,worship places

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) Over 83,000 police officers,officials and community volunteers have been deployed for security at more than 32,500 mosques,imam bargahs other places of worship across Punjab on the third Friday of Ramadan.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem directed all field formations to maintain strict vigilance on terrorists,miscreants and suspicious individuals in view of the situation along the western border.

He ordered enhanced security arrangements at mosques,places of worship,police check posts,Chinese and other foreign embassies as well as sensitive installations and important sites across the province.

The IGP further directed that the Dolphin Squad,Police Response Units and Elite Force teams should increase patrolling around religious and sensitive locations to ensure public safety.

IGP Abdul Kareem also instructed authorities to ensure effective monitoring of mosques,worship places and other important locations through CCTV cameras.

He emphasized accelerating search and combing operations to keep a close watch on elements linked with "Fitna Al-Khawarij" and "Fitna Al-Hindustan".

He further directed police personnel deployed at entry and exit points of cities and inter-provincial check posts to remain highly alert to prevent any untoward incident.
