Over 80,000 vehicles head toward Makkah as Hajj 1447 AH traffic peaks

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) More than 80,000 vehicles moved toward Makkah on the 4th of Dhu Al-Hijjah as Saudi authorities intensified traffic management efforts to ensure smooth movement of pilgrims during the Hajj 1447 AH season.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Roads General Authority recorded heavy vehicle movement across major entry routes leading to the holy city as field teams remained fully deployed to regulate traffic flow and maintain safety standards.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road witnessed the highest traffic volume with 26,312 vehicles, followed by the Taif-Makkah Road via Al-Sail Al-Kabeer with 14,846 vehicles and Al-Laith Road with 12,528 vehicles.

The remaining traffic was distributed across Hijrah Road with 10,278 vehicles, Al-Hada mountain pass with 7,871 vehicles, Bahra route with 6,856 vehicles and the direct Makkah-Jeddah highway with 4,300 vehicles.

SPA told APP that the authority continued round-the-clock monitoring through field teams to ensure smooth transit for pilgrims heading toward the holy sites.

Saudi authorities have further strengthened traffic management and road safety measures to facilitate pilgrims and maintain uninterrupted movement during the peak Hajj days.
