Over 53,000 complaints resolved through IGP 1787 helpline in 2026

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Punjab Police resolved more than 53,000 complaints received through the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Complaint Center 1787 during the current year.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, complaints received from citizens are being resolved within the prescribed timelines in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Karim said monitoring of the 1787 Complaint Centre had been further strengthened to enhance its effectiveness and ensure prompt redressal of public complaints.

He said district police officers (DPOs) were personally monitoring complaints received through the 1787 complaint management system to ensure their timely resolution.

The spokesperson said that 25,061 complaints related to registration of criminal cases and 12,796 complaints regarding slow investigation had been resolved through the complaint center.

Similarly, 3,884 complaints pertaining to police services and 11,834 complaints related to departmental matters and other issues had also been addressed.

The Punjab Police further resolved 2,859 complaints regarding the arrest of accused persons, 4,524 complaints related to recovery matters and 2,627 complaints concerning defective or unsatisfactory investigations.

In addition, 1,321 complaints regarding the cancellation of false cases and 897 complaints seeking change of investigation officers were resolved during the period.

IGP Abdul Karim urged citizens to contact the 1787 Complaint Centre without hesitation in case of any complaint against police officials, assuring them that their grievances would be addressed in a transparent and timely manner.
