Over 5,000 attend Fakhre Hazara Summit as KP Youth Affairs Department celebrates regional excellence

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) A large gathering of students, professionals and social workers attended the “Fakhre Hazara Summit” organised by the Directorate of Youth Affairs in collaboration with the District Youth Office Abbottabad, at the Jalal Baba Auditorium on Wednesday.

The event drew more than 5,000 participants from different regions of Pakistan and featured recognition of outstanding individuals from Hazara division for their achievements in social work, rescue services, journalism, healthcare, business and youth leadership.

Among those presented with the “Fakhre Hazara Award” were noted rescuer Muhammad Ali Swati, youth figure Hussain Mujahid, senior doctors, entrepreneurs and several community leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mr Swati, widely known for his role in the Battagram chairlift rescue operation and later emergency relief efforts during the Naran floods, received a strong response from the audience during the award ceremony.

Veteran journalist Rajab Ali Azad was also honoured for his contribution to journalism and regional public service.

Speaking on the occasion, Bushra Masroor Khan, District Youth Officer, said the purpose of the summit was to acknowledge individuals whose services had positively impacted society and inspired younger generations.

“The youth of Hazara possess immense talent and capability. By recognising achievers from different sectors, we are trying to motivate young people to pursue meaningful work and contribute towards the development of society,” she said.

Ms Khan stated that creating opportunities for youth engagement remained one of the priorities of the provincial government. She added that educational and leadership-focused activities could help young people build confidence and prepare for future challenges.

She also highlighted the importance of women’s participation in public administration and youth affairs, noting that inclusive representation was necessary for social progress.

Addressing attendees, Ubaid Khan from the District Youth Office Abbottabad said the summit was aimed at encouraging a culture of achievement, volunteerism and community service among the younger generation.

“Hazara has always produced talented and courageous individuals. Through such programmes, we want to celebrate their contributions and inspire others to follow the same path of dedication and public service,” he said.

The ceremony brought together youth representatives, teachers, social activists, volunteers and professionals from across the province. Cultural activities and networking sessions were also held alongside the award distribution.

Organisers termed the summit a significant initiative for recognising local talent and strengthening youth engagement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
