Over 35,000 illegally residing foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, have so far been deported from different districts of Punjab as the province-wide evacuation process continues in accordance with the law, the Punjab Police said on Friday

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Over 35,000 illegally residing foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, have so far been deported from different districts of Punjab as the province-wide evacuation process continues in accordance with the law, the Punjab Police said on Friday.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the deportation drive is being carried out across all districts, including Lahore, under legal procedures. He said that 163 illegally residing individuals are currently present at various holding points across the province.

Providing details, the spokesperson said that among those deported are 13,728 men, 7,048 women, and 14,366 children.

He added that the deportees include 10,898 residence proof holders, 11,131 Afghan Citizen Card holders, and 13,113 other illegally residing foreign nationals.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem said that security across the province remains on high alert and the deportation process is being implemented strictly in accordance with legal requirements and international laws.

He further stated that Punjab Police are ensuring the systematic implementation of the government’s policy regarding the deportation of illegally residing foreign nationals.
