DERA GHAZI KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO), Muhammad Azhar Akram, ordered foolproof security arrangements across the Dera Ghazi Khan region for Eid-ul-Azha, deploying more than 3,300 police officers and personnel.
According to official sources, comprehensive security measures have been completed in all districts of the region on the directives of the Regional Police Officer. A total of 1,282 Eid congregations would be held across the region, including mosques and open-air prayer venues.
In Dera Ghazi Khan, 323 mosques and four open places have been designated for Eid prayers, while Muzaffargarh will host 438 mosque congregations and seven open-air gatherings. In Rajanpur, 221 mosques and 12 open places have been arranged, whereas Kot Addu will have 144 mosques and three open venues. Similarly, 110 Eid congregations will be held across Layyah.
To secure these gatherings, 20 DSPs, 221 inspectors and sub-inspectors, along with over 3,300 police officials, will perform security duties across the region. Authorities have also installed 23 walk-through gates and 1,116 metal detectors for thorough checking of worshippers, while 619 CCTV cameras will monitor Eid congregations and sensitive areas.
Police officials said additional force would be deployed at busy highways, commercial markets, public parks and recreational points to maintain law and order during the Eid holidays.

Security has also been enhanced at 22 cattle markets where police personnel are ensuring the safety of traders, buyers and sacrificial animals.
RPO Muhammad Azhar Akram directed district police officers to maintain high alert security at inter-provincial checkpoints, important installations, religious places and locations frequented by foreign nationals in view of the prevailing security situation. He also directed that only a single entry point be used at Eid prayer venues and all participants be allowed entry after complete checking.
Special traffic management measures have also been ordered to cope with increased vehicular movement during Eid holidays. District Police, Punjab Highway Patrol and Elite Force teams will continue patrolling national highways to facilitate safe travel for commuters.
The RPO further directed a crackdown against one-wheeling, over-speeding, aerial firing, display of weapons and drug peddling.
