Over 3.962m driving licences issued across Punjab

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) More than 3.962 million driving licences have been issued across Punjab so far this year as part of efforts to improve public service delivery and strengthen enforcement of traffic laws.

A police spokesperson said over 4.356 million traffic challans were issued for violations of traffic regulations during the period, while fines exceeding Rs 8.88 billion were imposed on offenders.

He said challans were issued to 42,535 smoke-emitting vehicles, while 6,693 vehicles were impounded at police stations for various violations. In addition, fitness certificates of 28 vehicles were confiscated.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem directed police authorities to continue operations against traffic law violators without interruption and ensure the effective implementation of amended traffic laws, reforms and modern enforcement systems.

He said strict action should continue against those involved in overloading, overspeeding, underage driving, one-way violations and other dangerous traffic offences.

The IGP further directed field officers to take indiscriminate action against traffic violators and adopt effective measures to recover outstanding traffic fines from defaulters.
