RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, on Wednesday, said more than 13,000 citizens had been issued new driving licenses so far this month, while 5,898 challans had been issued for driving without a valid license, as authorities stepped up enforcement to curb road accidents.

He said strict action had been ordered against motorists driving without licenses, with circle and sector in-charges directed to intensify enforcement through special checkpoints and pickets across the city.

To facilitate applicants, licensing services have been made available at six driving testing centres, traffic checkpoints and service centres across the district.

In addition, mobile licensing vans were operating under an outreach programme to provide doorstep services in far-flung areas.

Under special measures, learner permits and driving licences were being issued promptly to motorcyclists, while Sundays have been designated to facilitate rickshaw drivers.

Aslam said driving without a valid licence was an offence under the law and warned that strict action would continue against violators. He urged citizens to obtain licences promptly to avoid legal consequences, adding that possessing a valid licence was essential for responsible driving.
