Over 10,982 motorcyclists fined for helmet violations

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) As many as 10,982 motorcyclists were fined for riding without helmets, 5,389 vehicles

challaned for one-way violations, and 1,536 motorcycles impounded during a continued

crackdown on traffic violations by the City Traffic Police Lahore over the last three days.

According to the traffic police spokesperson on Tuesday, 753 vehicles involved in one-way

violations were also impounded, while 1,754 vehicles were fined for violating lane discipline

and 245 were taken into custody.

The police also took indiscriminate action against vehicles with fake, tampered or without number

plates, issuing challans to 1,495 vehicles and impounding 208 vehicles during the ongoing campaign.

Moreover, 16 individuals were booked in different police stations for wrong parking,

causing traffic obstruction, establishing illegal parking stands and setting up encroachments on roads.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Athar Waheed directed officers to continue strict action without

discrimination against road blockages, illegal parking stands and encroachments to ensure

smooth traffic flow in the provincial capital.

Athar Waheed said protecting citizens from road accidents was the top priority, adding that City Traffic Police remained present on roads round the clock to assist commuters and ensure safe travel.
