Over 1,200 candidates qualify for physical test in excise constable recruitment

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) As many as 1291 candidates qualified for the 36 constable (Scale-5) posts in the Excise and Taxation department across Multan division.

According to official figures released by the department, 1,396 applications were received for 36 vacant constable seats in Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran and Vehari districts. Following scrutiny of documents, 1,291 candidates were declared eligible for the physical test, while 105 applications were rejected due to incomplete documentation.

Department officials said candidates clearing the physical test would subsequently appear in a general knowledge examination and interview.

Interestingly, despite the minimum qualification for the Scale-5 posts being Matric Second Division, the recruitment drive attracted a large number of highly educated applicants, including candidates holding degrees such as MPhil, MBA Finance, BS and BSc (Hons).

The list of eligible candidates was displayed at Excise and Taxation office Multan. The candidates would be called for physical test in next phase.

District-wise distribution of the 36 seats is as followed Multan: 25 seats including 16 for men, 8 for women and 1 reserved for minorities.

Khanewal: 8 seats including 6 on open merit for men and 2 for women quota.

Vehari: 2 seats for women

Lodhran: 1 seat for women
