ORIC, BIC of UAF secure distinctive positions

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has achieved another milestone as its Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) and business Incubation Center (BIC) secured distinctive positions (W-Category) in the Higher education Commission’s (HEC) ORIC/BIC Self-Assessment Evaluation Report 2024-25.

UAF spokesman said here on Monday that UAF ORIC/BIC has been placed in the prestigious “W” category, recognizing its outstanding performance in research management, innovation, commercialization and industry-academia linkages. The ORIC/BIC UAF were recognized among the highest-ranking institutions of the country.

During this exercise, HEC evaluated ORIC’s performance over the course of a financial year through key performance indicators under four distinct domains i.e. human resource & operations, research excellence, innovation & commercialization, sustainability and capacity building.

The ranking validated UAF’s strong research ecosystem, intellectual property management, and commercialization initiatives. UAF continues to pioneer projects that bridge the gap between academia and industry, empowering faculty and students alike, and propelling an ecosystem of innovation & commercialization.

This recognition positions UAF to secure competitive research grants, expand collaborations, and strengthen its role in Pakistan’s knowledge economy, he added.

UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali while felicitating the ORIC/BIC teams described the ranking a testament of its prolific activities to promote and propel an ecosystem of entrepreneurship, innovation and commercialization, swelling consultancies and academia-industry linkages.

He said that the achievement reflects the university’s commitment to promoting quality research and transforming innovative ideas into practical solutions for society.

The university has continued to pace up projects that bridge the gap between academia and industry while empowering faculty members and students.

The recognition is expected to help UAF secure more competitive research grants, expand national and international collaborations, and further strengthen its role in Pakistan’s knowledge-based economy.
