MIRPUR (AJK) , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 5th May, 2026) The people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have marked the first anniversary of Operation Banyan-ul-Marsoos with ceremonies highlighting it as a key military success and a symbol of national unity.
A gathering organised by the Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) at the Kashmiri Press Club here drew ex-servicemen, civil society members, political figures and journalists.
The participants cut an anniversary cake and paid tributes to the operation.
The speakers said the operation, launched in response to “Operation Sandhoor” and alleged Indian aggression, represented a milestone in Pakistan’s military history.
They said it reflected both the professionalism of the armed forces and the resolve of the public.
“Such occasions boost national morale and send a clear message that Pakistan is capable of facing all challenges,” they pointed out.
Major (retd) Hizer-ur-Rehman, President, ex-servicemen’s society in the region, said Pakistan’s armed forces had consistently ensured the country’s defence and remained prepared to respond to any future threats.
He said that any further escalation by India would be met with a strong response, adding that the nation stood firmly behind its military.
The event concluded with prayers for the country’s security and stability, and participants reaffirmed their support for Pakistan’s armed forces and national unity.
