Ombudsman Punjab facilitates release of Rs.235m in family pensions

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab has facilitated the release of Rs.235 million in family pensions across the province following intervention in multiple complaints,including the payment of Rs.5 million to a widow in Pakpattan who had been facing prolonged delays.

According to a spokesperson,a woman approached the regional office of the Ombudsman in Pakpattan,stating that after the death of her husband,the District food Authority,Sahiwal, failed to release her family pension in a timely manner,causing her severe financial hardship.

Upon receipt of the complaint,the Pakpattan office took up the matter with the relevant authorities and actively pursued the case.

Following a formal order issued by the Ombudsman Punjab,an amount of Rs.5 million was released to the complainant, providing her much-needed financial relief.

The spokesperson said that interventions by the Ombudsman Punjab in family pension cases across the province led to the cumulative disbursement of Rs.235 million to various complainants.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely action and effective redressal of their grievances,appreciating the institution’s role in ensuring transparency,accountability and protection of citizens’ rights.
