Officials inspect CRBC canal breach at Kathgarh, repair work underway

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) Assistant Commissioner Paharpur Dr. Hamid on Friday visited the site of a breach in the CRBC canal at Kathgarh along with the Superintendent Engineer Irrigation and the General Manager CRBC (WAPDA).

According to District Administration, the breach was approximately 150 feet wide, which caused flooding in nearby residential areas.

The district administration promptly initiated emergency measures and shifted residents of the affected localities to safer places in time, preventing any loss of life.

During the visit, the Assistant Commissioner and other officials conducted a detailed inspection of the breach site and reviewed the ongoing repair work.

Machinery and staff of the relevant departments were present on the spot, and repair work was continuing at a rapid pace.

Dr. Hamid directed the concerned officials to ensure the quality of material being used in the repair process and stressed that all necessary measures should be taken to complete the work in a durable and effective manner.

He also urged the relevant authorities to identify other vulnerable points along the CRBC canal and carry out timely repairs to prevent similar incidents in the future and to safeguard the lives and property of the public.
