NTUF Leader Nasir Mansoor salutes workers on Int’l labour day, urges enforcement of rights

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) On the occasion of International Labour Day, Nasir Mansoor of the National Trade Union Federation Pakistan Friday paid tribute to workers across Pakistan, acknowledging their valuable contributions and calling for continued efforts to strengthen the protection of their basic rights and improve working conditions in a balanced and constructive

manner.

Speaking to a local media channel on the occasion of International Labour Day, leader of labour Nasir Mansoor reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to the protection and advancement of workers’ welfare, rights and dignity across all sectors of employment.

He stated that all workers, including permanent employees and contract labour, must be guaranteed equal respect under the law, fair remuneration for their services, and safe and healthy working environments.

He emphasized that labour rights are fundamental human rights and must be upheld without discrimination or delay.

He further stressed the importance of ensuring timely and transparent payment of wages, elimination of forced and unpaid overtime, and strict adherence to legally defined working hours.

He called for stronger enforcement mechanisms to prevent exploitation and to ensure accountability in both public and private sector workplaces.

Nasir Mansoor highlighted that both permanent and contractual workers should have equal access to social protection measures, including health coverage, safety provisions, and other statutory benefits.

He noted that labour policies must be implemented in letter and spirit to secure economic and social justice for all categories of workers.

Concluding his remarks, Nasir Mansoor extended a solemn salute to workers on the occasion of International Labour Day, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and essential role in sustaining the country’s economic and social framework.

He reiterated that the pursuit of justice, fair remuneration, and dignified working conditions remains a collective responsibility and a continuing priority.

He urged all stakeholders to strengthen institutional frameworks that promote dignity, fairness and equality in the workplace and to ensure that every worker is treated with respect and provided with just working conditions in line with national and international labour standards.
