Noulakha Presbyterian Church hosts breakfast to promote interfaith harmony

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) Noulakha Presbyterian Church Lahore organized a Muharram Solidarity Breakfast as

a gesture to promote peace, mutual respect, religious tolerance and interfaith harmony

during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The event, held under the leadership of Dr Majid Abel, brought together religious scholars,

faith leaders and members of different schools of thought to reaffirm their commitment to

unity and peaceful coexistence, said a press release issued here on Monday.

Among those present were Archbishop Dr Azad Marshall, Chairman of the Kul Masalik board Maulana Asim Makhdoom, Father James Channan, Mufti Ashiq Hussain, Pastor Khokhar, Emmanuel Pervaiz Bhatti, Mufti Intikhab Noori, Dr Badr Munir, Sajid Christopher, Allama Asghar Chishti and Professor Suhail Ahmed, besides a large number of members of the Shia community and people from various religious backgrounds.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Majid Abel said Muharram teaches the values of patience, sacrifice, compassion and humanity.

He said the participation of people from different faiths in such initiatives reflected the collective desire of Pakistanis to live in an atmosphere of mutual respect, harmony and brotherhood. He added that maintaining peace during Muharram was a shared national responsibility and such events helped strengthen national unity.

Archbishop Dr Azad Marshall and Father James Channan emphasized the importance of interfaith dialogue and joint community activities in promoting trust, understanding and respect among followers of different religions.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Asim Makhdoom and Mufti Ashiq Hussain said the great sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) carries a universal message of truth, justice, steadfastness and selflessness for all humanity.

They urged followers of all schools of thought to promote unity, tolerance and brotherhood during Muharram-ul-Haram.
